WE'LL BE JUST LITTLE LATE WITH THE MORTGAGE, MR. CLETIS, GOD 'N WEATHER WILLIN'

My first planting in my new apartment and new garden. Started inside from heirloom seed. The Mortgage Lifter, Black Cherry Tomato, and Red Fig. Verrry slow going ... consensus, via Garden Web, is that Northern toms are coming in late this year, to wit:

“I feel your pain. I have about 100 beefsteaks on my plants and they are all green no signs of starting to get ripe.”

Took the words right out of my mouth. The tomatoes are taking their sweet time to ripen. They're big, they're plentiful, and they've been green for weeks now. They sure are stubborn.”

Thanks, Mr. Meatloaf, and, yes, Mr. Petty, the waiting is, indeed, the hardest part.
